Dutch hotel company CitizenM has opened its third Miami location in Miami Beach following the success of its Brickell and Worldcenter hotels.
Located along the iconic Miami Beach Lincoln Road corridor at 1200 Lincoln Road, the new hotel offers 168 guestrooms. The project was designed by the Dutch brand’s longtime partner Concrete Amsterdam, with Gensler serving as the architect of record. Americaribe served as the general contractor.
“As a cultural hotspot, the busy streets of South Beach are bursting with the best fine-dining experiences, prime shopping, bustling nightlife and public art,” said Robin Chadha, chief brand officer at CitizenM, in a press release.
Founded by Rattan Chadha in 2008 with a focus on frequent travelers looking for luxury lodging at a more affordable price, CitizenM South Beach is the fully integrated owner-operator's third hotel in the Miami area and the 36th in its global portfolio. The company recently opened additional hotels in Boston; Austin, Texas; and at global tech company Meta’s Menlo Park campus in California as it targets a national expansion across the country.
In Miami, the company opened its first location in Brickell, the city's financial center, in 2022. A year later, a second location was opened at Miami Worldcenter.
Lincoln Road, Miami Beach’s open-air mall, is one of the city’s biggest attractions, drawing around 8 million visitors every year. The corridor anchors the city’s South Beach neighborhood and is home to dozens of restaurants, shops and a few boutique offices.
The hotel opens after South Florida hotels have been over-performing since the pandemic. Although the market remains a popular destination for travelers, Miami hotels have seen slight decreases in demand in recent months.
According to the latest industry update from the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Miami Beach hotels saw a 0.7% occupancy rate increase over the course of the past year to 66.9%. Despite the slight increase, however, average daily rates and revenue per available room both declined over 2% in June. Average daily rates declined 2.9% to about $216.21, while revenue per available room declined 2.2% to $144.64.
Prices at the new CitizenM South Beach start at $139 per night.
Guest amenities include a rooftop pool, bar and terrace; iPad room controls; wall-to-wall windows; extra large king-sized beds; rain-style showers; two meeting rooms; one-minute self check-ins and checkout; and a grab-and-go food and drinks bar.
